How Do I Use The Red Light Therapy Lamp?

An approximate recommendation is to apply red light therapy for 10 minutes daily, ensuring the device is positioned 6-12 inches from the skin. It’s essential to refer to the specific device instructions and take into account individual requirements.

How Does Red Light Therapy Work?

Red light and near-infrared (NIR) light are both part of the electromagnetic spectrum, but they have different wavelengths and therefore different properties.

  1. Wavelengths: Red light typically ranges from approximately 620 to 750 nanometers (nm), while near-infrared light ranges from about 750 nm to 1,400 nm.
  2. Penetration: Red light has a shallower penetration depth compared to near-infrared light. Near-infrared light can penetrate deeper into tissues, reaching muscles, tendons, and even bones, whereas red light tends to be absorbed more superficially, affecting primarily skin and underlying tissues.
  3. Therapeutic Effects: Both red and near-infrared light have therapeutic effects on cellular function. Red light is often used for skin health, wound healing, and superficial tissue repair. Near-infrared light, on the other hand, is known for its ability to penetrate deeper into tissues and is often used for muscle recovery, joint pain relief, and overall systemic effects.

How do I use The Red Light Lamp? How do I set this up? What about dosage?

As a general guideline, we recommend 10-20 minutes per treatment area, maintaining a distance of approximately 8″-14″ for deep tissue treatment or 16″-24″ for superficial facial skin therapy. This should be applied on bare skin, with a maximum of 2-3 treatment areas per day. For best results, we advise using light therapy at least 3 to 5 times per week. It’s recommended to start with further distances and shorter exposure times initially, gradually increasing as your tolerance to the light improves.
